The HDMS is a comprehensive software environment that enables the user to store, query, display, and analyze hydrologic and water resources data for a specific area or region. The type of data that can be used in the HDMS include:

  • Groundwater level,
  • Groundwater production,
  • Streamflow,
  • Groundwater Quality
  • Surface water quality,
  • Water rights,
  • Well log, and
  • Land use data

The HDMS allows the user to interactively query the database with a built-in easy to use query builder. In addition, the map based data such as land use and contours of groundwater levels can be displayed in map form, and the time series data such as streamflows and groundwater levels can be displayed in chart form at various data frequencies, with summary charts to analyze long-term and short-term trends. The HDMS can assist the staff and/or managers to generate summary reports in simple to use formats, and help in preparation of presentation quality material.

WRIME, Inc., offers expert services in database management system development and maintenance on Windows operating environments. The default HDMS database is MS Access. However, the code is flexible enough to be modified to support other existing database systems based on Oracle or SQL.

The HDMS has been implemented in number of local water agencies, and is increasingly gaining popularity as a state-of-the-art visualization tool for water managers and decisions makers, as well the ideal technical analysis tool for technical staff who want to drill down to the details of the data.
